This book is marketed as being a must-have for ‘Internet Guru’s, Social Networking Junkies, and Website Design & Developers’. In reality, if you’re any of these you probably won’t take much away from this book. It’s tiny for the price, 6×9x1/4″, and has large type.
It contains basic introductions to the various categories of web 2.0 (social networks, content sharing etc.) and then gives a brief overview of the major players in each category, but doesn’t offer much here that people familiar with these sites won’t already know.
There are several lists of sites which offer various services, and that could certainly be useful (most people know the big name social networking sites, but perhaps not many of the smaller ones).
With that said, I think this would be a fantastic guide for those with limited technical knowledge, looking for a good overview of all web 2.0 has to offer. It doesn’t bury you in technical language, and clearly explains the basics to even a complete beginner.
